We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3)
Dear friends,
We’re happy to write to you after several months, hoping you’re doing well and always thinking of you. This summer has been very busy and fruitful for us, with many activities with children and teenagers from our church, visits from loved ones, and the beginning of the academic year. Thank you all for supporting us and for praying for us, just as we pray for each of you. We thank God for the work of his gospel in your heart — in your works of faith, your labor of love, and the steadfastness of your hope in Jesus. We pray that your faith, hope, and love may continue to abound each day as we wait for our Lord Jesus.
We want to share some updates so that you can give thanks and pray with us:
- We thank the Lord for allowing us to work with children and teenagers during the summer. First at a youth camp and then at a holiday club for the little ones. We’re grateful to the Lord for all that we learned, but even more for the fruit of His Word in the lives of the children.
- The Lord has provided the remaining amount needed for Delfi’s studies at Cornhill. We thank God and each of you who have supported us with your prayers and generosity. We still need to cover part of the travel and food expenses; if you’d like to help, you can go to the “Donate” section.
- We’ve completed one year in the UK! We thank God for sustaining us and for the people He has placed along our path to walk with us.
- We’ve started the academic year: Delfi at the Cornhill Training Course and Manu at Union School of Theology.
- Some projects: Manu and our friend Agus Yapura had the opportunity to record lectures on exegesis and exposition based on the book of Exodus. At the same time, they’re working on a podcast project to help people read the Bible. We ask for your prayers that both projects would be a blessing to Spanish-speaking people. If you’d like to know more about the Yapura’s family, Agus & Ashling are dear friends of us who’re currently living in the UK and preparing themselves for ministry. If you’d like to know more about their future projects, please feel free to email them at agusyashling@gmail.com.
- Delfi is taking her final class in Biblical Counseling at Carey Seminary. We thank God for His faithfulness and ask for your prayers for wisdom, as Delfi is considering pursuing certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.
- Manu has started serving as a tutor for the first-year teaching practices at Cornhill.
- Please pray for us to have joy and hope as winter approaches, which is particularly challenging for us.
- Please pray for Europe and for the Church of England, which is going through a difficult and decisive time in its history.
- In recent days, we’ve grieved the passing of our friend Ale. We ask for your prayers for Ale’s family and for all of us who mourn him.
Make me increasingly mindful, O God,
of that greater context—of that vast, magnificent story
that cradles my own small and wounded story—
that even amidst such deep-felt sorrows
I would not fail to also see at work
these brighter seeds of hope and heaven, branching,
budding, and flowering into unshakeable wonders;
that I might also hear the quiet thunder of the Spirit’s whisper:
This is not the end.
This is not at all the end.
This is only the moment before
the better holiday begins.
Amen.
(Meditations for Anchoring the Heart in Eternal Hope, Every Moment Holy)
May the hope of the coming new life comfort our hearts and keep us steadfast until Christ returns!
With much love,
Manu and Delfi
