“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” (2 Corinthians 4:7, NASB)
Few things look more ordinary than gospel ministry, and few things are more extraordinary than gospel ministry. Few things seem less appealing in this world than talking about Jesus, reading the Bible with someone, preparing a lesson for Sunday Club, or investing hours on a sermon or Bible study. Few people seem less impressive or successful than the average Christian who doesn’t plan their life around professional or financial success, nor around being recognized and living comfortably. And yet, in that apparent weakness, gospel ministry accomplishes the most glorious, extraordinary, and valuable work in the history of the world.
That’s the paradigm of gospel ministry—and the paradigm of the gospel itself. It appears weak, unattractive, and is carried out by jars of clay. But at the same time, the extraordinary greatness of God’s power is at work, bringing new creation to life. The same God who said, “Let there be light,” uses his church and its seemingly weak message to shine the light of the gospel into this world. He gets the glory; we serve him with confidence. Few things look more ordinary than gospel ministry, and few things are more extraordinary than gospel ministry.
Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers. It’s our prayer that, as you receive this newsletter, the God of grace would fill you with confidence and encouragement as you consider how glorious the work of the gospel truly is—the very work in which you are involved. May he give you assurance that your weakness is not a hindrance, but the very means he uses to advance his purposes in this world. Through jars of clay, for his glory.

- We’re very excited to share Manu has been admitted to continue his theological studies at Union School of Theology.
- Please pray with us for the upcoming summer season and all the plans at St Lawrence and Morden Parish: a youth camp, a holiday club, and lots of preparation in between.
